Last Saturday I found myself in Sublimity and saw what appeared to be a fairly old cemetery. I though I would take a few minutes and have a look. One of the first headstones I encountered was this one with the cross being part of the headstone. It was an interesting design feature since it merged the cross and stone into one both visually and physically.
As I continued to walk there were several where the cross or portions of the cross had fallen victim to time and weather. What I found interesting was that the pieces had not been collected and thrown away but remained as they fell or were stacked reverently beside or on top of the headstone.
Several other crosses were part of the headstone, designed to last well into the future.
This last headstone had the added feature that you could add fancy Celtic knots into the cross.
We brought our lunch (Taco Bell) and soaked up some sunshine while eating and then a short walk.
Afterwards we visited a store I've been meaning to stop by for several months, Salem Summit Company. Lots of great gear for hiking and camping. I am sure I will be back.
(note to self: leave wallet at home or you will be in trouble.)
Bananas, spinach, Greek Yogurt, pears. Sounds nasty, looks nasty, and I am sure it tastes nasty. Yet my daughter says my grand-daughter loves it. I Think the "after" pictures tells it like it is. Should I report her to the athorities for some kind of abuse?
